Thai Peppers

Thai Peppers

Plant Date: March 4th (indoors)

Transplant Date: April 29th (after chance of frost)

Planting: Plant the seeds three to a pot, then thin the weakest one. Plant 1/4" deep. Thai peppers need higher temperatures to germinate than other types of peppers. You should try to keep the temperature at 80°F. After the chance of frost has passed, and the soil is at least 65°F you can transplant them outside. I've heard that you should plant the paired seedlings from each pot close together so they're almost touching. This is supposed to make them produce more fruit. My pepper plants haven't fruited yet though, so I can't confirm this.

Care: After transplanting, make sure they get 1-2" of water a week. Fertilize them after their first set of fruit. Use a fertilizer with more phosphorus and less nitrogen. Weed carefully around plants. You can stake them if you need to, although I usually just mound dirt around the base if they start to bend.

Harvest: You can harvest the peppers as soon as they reach the desired size and color. You can store them in the refrigerator for ten days, or dry them.
